Freedom
Lament
Lost in thought, I sit alone
At times afraid to leave my home.
The world in upheaval, chaos abounds
Fear in our cities, pain in small towns.
Friends and families torn apart
By the fear and anger in our hearts.
Confidence and security ripped away
by unthinkable acts of a September day.
A country unified, galvanized at first
Now diverging, dividing, and showing our worst.
Some say "peace", and some say "war".
I can see both sides, it's not that far.
Peace protestors say "Life is precious!"
What will it take to get the message
Through to them- that peace is earned,
At times, only through war is the tide turned.
Innocents sacrificed if we choose to fight,
But how many more can be saved if we are right
About the mad men who are filled with hate?
They will stop at nothing to seal our fate.
"Death to America!" is their slogan
And with every protest we help them win.
Our country, our culture, our way of life
Can all be ended through internal strife.
In a perfect world, peace would rule.
This world is not perfect, don't be a fool.
When insanity and hate are allowed to prevail,
It's a short trip from home to hell.
I don't want to kill, and I don't want to die,
but given a choice, I won't stand idly by
and watch as extremists build terror machines
That they plan to use to wipe us clean
off the face of this beautiful planet;
We can't sit back and let them plan it.
We must take our direction from
this country's Great Seal
No olive branch without arrows,
they're both part of the deal.
