Mommy Time
My friend runs a dental lab and I work with her.
Her schedule's a mess, her agenda, a blur.
She knows what she wants,
She knows what she needs,
She knows what she's doing, at incredible speed.
She needs me with her some part of each day.
To help her, remind her, and stay out of her way.
I hand her things, like the glasses she needs,
I help her plant her flower seeds.
I find lost items and drive to the store,
& the bank, & the printer, & several stops more.
I deliver our product to our dentists so dear,
pick up the new cases and bring them back here.
I do tiny painting, in shades of off white,
and it's important to get the shade just right!
Then, I am finished with work for the day,
& there's time for Cory & I to play.
My boy talks to me, but I don't understand,
about the YuGiOh cards he holds in his hand.
I do know these cards are his favorite things,
& the chance to duel gives him wings.
The teenagers pass through every now and then.
Some food, clean clothes, then, gone again.
"Money for class rings is due in next week."
"These shoes you that bought
make me look like a geek."
"What color dress should I get for the prom?"
"Could you get someone to look at my car,
please, Mom?"
"I need $50 for Ozzie's Concert,
and if you don't mind, a little more for the shirt."
Cory, it's bedtime and you've got to go,
You get up early for school you know.
Dinner, a bath, and get those teeth brushed.
If you'd come when I call you,
you wouldn't be rushed.
A bedtime story, a kiss goodnight,
and just as I'm ready to turn out the light,
"Hey, Mom, I'm thirsty."
Just one more trip.
We stave off death, with just one little sip.
Good Night....
Alright!!
Dr Pepper, log on, ....it's MOMMY TIME!!
I love my life & I love when it rhymes!
